Anxiety is very common. 80% of people have it at some point in their lives. Biologically, It originates in the amygdala. Not enough GABA neurotransmitters that modulate anxiety in the amygdala or too many 5 -HT create a response of fear and anxiety in the human brain. There are of course drugs, such as diazepam that can help short-term but long-term therapy can help overcome the fear of anxiety and learn coping mechanisms.
