About the project

Safe Space is a special project that is meant to provide customised mental health. It means exactly what it signifies. There should be a safe place for people to be vulnerable and to be understood. It does not matter if you simply need a place to decompress and exercise or suffer from a more serious stressors.   The project is created to support a wide variety of people such as expats, parents,   lgbtqia+,   or anyone in need.  The project aims to  normalise mental health issues   that occur almost in every individual’s life at some point,   and   legitamise therapy  . We also aim to create a mental health network among professionals where we can work together towards helping people .

We have services that fit a wide variety of needs; however, all of them have a therapeutic effect and are focused on mental health, self-exploration, balance and stability. We offer yoga, meditation, mindfulness sessions for existing clients as an extension of therapy and to people who simply want to have a place to relax and ground themselves. We also offer individual and group therapy sessions for those who want to overcome personal issue and traumas and live a more fulfilling and happy life.  All therapies are forwarded towards learning about your trues self, accepting yourself for who you are  and learning to trust yourself in what you need.

For individual therapy we use a 360 degree approach in helping people, which means that we have an evaluation session with you and try to create a customised plan based on your needs, you personality, your problem, and your previous traumas. We analyse not only that but also your overall health that is inseparable from mental health. How is your sleep? Do you have somatic symptoms? Do you suffer from chronic pain? Do you eat well? Do you have an anxious personality? We work along with your GP, and suggest to test essential vitals such as hormones and vitamins that are a crucial part of your mental health.

“This is my dream project, where everything I love comes together enabling me to help people get better faster. I have spent years and keep studying in search to find better ways and tools to help people. Therapy has many faces and you should be able to choose what works for you and what you are most comfortable with.”

– Katherine Dedukh, founder of Safe Space & Psychotherapist

About me and my approach

I mix traditional methods like TA, CBT, Psychodynamic therapy with other modern therapies, mindfulness, and hands on exercises and tools. My psychological training was competed in the UK but every year I do extra training to find new ways to help my patients. Last training I did was a 1-year long family constellations course in Estonia and an art therapy course for children and for adults worth 160 hours. This year it is hypnotherapy and somatic therapy  in Portuguese psychotherapist societies. In terms of experience I worked previously in HR and opened my own practice around 6 years ago before Covid.

I also teach mindfulness and yoga for 10 years. I am a very modern professional where I don’t believe you need years to fix your problem, I mix traditional approaches with some new ones to help you as fast as possible. We will not just be sitting with a notebook talking about your possible traumas, we will have some body work, mental and breathing exercises, visualisation, imaginative work and also homework. If you have more questions, we can discuss them during the call.

Therapy is considered a lengthy process but it does not have to be, some things can be fixed in 6 sessions. I believe that you know what you want from life better than anyone else, you just need some help to learn how to listen to yourself and establish what it is. You do not need a therapist on a constant basis like you need a hair dresser, and I am here to give you strength, tools and empower you to connect to your true self and to  be able to deal with your problems on your own at some point.

I mix traditional approaches with some new ones to help you as fast as possible. I often give mental and physical exercises to do at home  and  I work with natural remedies  that can help  relieve stress and insomnia.    But mainly, I teach you to get in tune with your body and your true self and to trust yourself. Your body is very smart and it is able to heal, just  trust the process.

About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a psychological tool  used by mental professionals such as psychologists that includes various types of therapies.  Depending on the type of therapy, most of them consist of communication and exercises in order to   help the client deal with certain traumas or difficulties in life or explore the inner self. Psychotherapy does not include any medications  as part of the treatment nor it aims to  diagnose  a mental health disease. For clinical evaluation you need to turn to a psychiatrist. There are many approaches  in psychotherapy and it is important to find  one or a  integrative approach that works for you.

Statistically,  80% of people, at some point in life, experience depression or anxiety. It is completely normal to need help and ask for it when overwhelmed with a stressful situation or  when experiencing an internal conflict.   Turning to a mental health professional on time could help  omit complicated situations and irrational decisions. It can also help diagnose and treat a disorder that needs attention on time before any medication might be essential.

  • confidential and non-judgemental environment
  • professionally structured dialogue  and an honest relationship with a non-biased professional
  • better understanding of inner conflicts and  managing  emotions.
  • therapeutic focus depending on the chosen therapy style.
